At its stated meeting on Monday, December 16, the session of Antioch Presbyterian Church adopted a plan to make mission-critical improvements to expand and modernize the Church’s bathroom facilities as the central part of a Fellowship Hall renovation project. The Fellowship Hall (pictures in the gallery below) is used primarily for ministry to young children under the age of five years old.
In consultation with Signature Architects and Trehel General Contractors, we have considered several options and selected the plan shown in the schematic below. The cost of renovation of the space is roughly estimated at $100,000, depending in large part on the cost of materials. We have been advised that our septic tank system will need to be upgraded to accommodate our growing congregation, regardless of any plans to renovate the facilities. The rough estimate for the cost of this aspect of the project is an additional $30,000.
Update as of 9/17/25: The overall cost of the project is now at $133,000, which figure does not include any modification to the septic tank itself (but does include replacing the lines to the tank).
Thus, our session has set a modest building fund goal for Calendar Year 2025 at $130,000. Once this money has been raised, we will proceed to engage with a general contractor to move forward with this improvement project. Toward that goal of $130,000, we have earmarked $50,000 in available resources we presently have on-hand, leaving us with a current need of $80,000 to close the gap. We thank God for the ability to do earmark these funds, even as we publish the additional need here and communicate it to the congregation, like-minded churches, and other potential funding sources.

As far as material concerns go, this project is truly “mission-critical” as we continue to grow as an as-yet small congregation, sustain Antioch’s ministry by God’s grace, and make belated but much-needed improvements to our facilities so that we can become financially self-sustaining in dependence on God’s provision.
