We are pleased to be working with Len Strozier of Omega Mapping Services to identify unmarked graves in the Old Antioch Graveyard. This week, Mr. Strozier has been using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and global position system (GPS) technology to produce a detailed map of Antioch’s historic burial ground.
So far, Mr. Strozier has found and flagged over 70 graves, as well as other underground items of interest (e.g., pipes near the building). He will be providing Antioch with a detailed map of the grounds, and the goal is to mark the unmarked graves with era-appropriate permanent markers.
It is critically important that we not play or tamper with the flags. If you are visiting Antioch for prayer meeting or worship services, please do not remove or relocate any of the flags you see in the graveyard. If you have children, please prepare them beforehand not to touch the flags as they walk around the east side of the Antioch church building. Thank you so much!
